From Prince Harry’s recent Las Vegas adventures to the Queen’s many international tours, the Windsor family know a good hotel when they see one!
These ten hotels have all earned the privilege of hosting members of the Royal Family over the years and many have created dedicated suites in honour of their blue-blooded guests. With the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge currently on a tour of the Far East, we thought we’d start with their chosen Singapore pad.
The Raffles Singapore
The most famous hotel in Singapore has been welcoming guests for more than 125 years, and played host to the Queen and Prince Philip in 2006. With Prince William and Kate also making a stop off at the classic colonial pad, this is clearly worth a visit if you’re ever in Singapore.
Waldorf Astoria, New York
The Royal Suite at the Waldorf Astoria in New York costs a whopping $10,000 a night! The Queen Mother graced the hotel with a visit in 1954, and her daughter stayed three years later, so it must have been OK!
The Goring Hotel, London
A favourite haunt of the late Queen Mother, The Goring was also where Kate Middleton stayed the night before she was married to Prince William. Located close to Buckingham Palace, this English institution has been run by the Goring family since its opening in 1910.
Wynn Hotel, Las Vegas
The Wynn hotel in Las Vegas is where Prince Harry enjoyed his recent holiday, exposing himself to the world, as well as to the disapproval of his Grandma! The Wynn is renowned for its steamy pool parties and famous guests.
Fairmont Royal York, Toronto
The Fairmont Royal hotel in Toronto created its Royal Suite in 1929 and has hosted various generations of the Royal Family since that time. The lobby features portraits of both the Queen and Prince Philip.
Eskaya Beach Resort & Spa, Philippines
This exclusive luxury resort was where William and Kate stayed after announcing their engagement back in November 2010. Situated on Panglao Island, many of the suites and villas feature private infinity pools overlooking the sea – perfect for some privacy away from prying photographers.
Mandarin Hyde Park, London
A genuine favourite with the Royals, they have used the Mandarin Hyde Park on various occasions. Most recently, a pre-wedding party was held in the hotel’s ballroom before the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Phoenicia, Malta
One of the oldest hotels on the island, the Phoenicia is located in the town of Floriana in the Grand Harbour area. The Queen and Prince Philip have stayed there during state visits.
Taj Mahal Palace & Tower
The Prince of Wales, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Kent and other Royals have stayed at the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower hotel in Mumbai. It welcomed its first guests in 1903 and later became the first hotel in India to install a steam-powered elevator!
Jasper Park Lodge “Outlook Cabin”
A holiday spot enjoyed by many of the Royal Family, this luxury Canadian log cabin is now a modern recreation of the original cabin built in 1930, which burned down in 2000. From George VI and Queen Elizabeth back in 1939 through to Prince William and his bride in more recent years, the lodge has provided a unique retreat for the Windsors in the stunning setting of the Canadian Rockies.
